DeKalb Medical is implementing a clean hands campaign aimed at improving hand hygiene, decreasing hospital infection rates, and encouraging patients to engage with their healthcare provider about the safety of hand hygiene. The campaign is called, “Clean Hands Start Here! Ask Me How!”
As a key element of this campaign, we are asking for physician leadership and support. We ask for your help in speaking up if you see staff entering or leaving a room without cleaning their hands. We also ask if you could wear the campaign button that the DeKalb Quality Institute team distributes. With your leadership, we hope to improve patient safety and reduce infection rates in our offices and hospitals.
In the coming months, the campaign will roll out on all campuses with a multi-faceted approach including providing buttons to staff, increasing education about clean hands, and encouraging everyone to practice good hand hygiene. By working together to improve hand hygiene, we can increase the safety of our staff, patients and their families.
