Chief Medical Information Officers Change

IT dept changeDeKalb Medical and the Information Technology (IT) department would like to thank Dr. Mark Pollock for his 16 years of service as one of our Chief Medical Information Officers (CMIO). Dr. Pollock has been in this role since DRHS began the implementation of our electronic medical record (EMR) and has provided guidance and expertise over the years in the continued use of our EMR system and the introduction of multiple new functionalities.

Dr. Pollock was instrumental in the creation of service line specific orders and order sets that improved physician workflow and created a standard of practice with the use of evidence – based guidelines.  Dr. Pollock also was actively involved in DRHS’ successful implementation and attestation to CMS’ Meaningful Use Stage 1 and Stage 2 standards.  Over the years, Dr. Pollock has provided oversight in the implementation of clinical decision support in the form of alerts in Allscripts Sunrise Clinical Manager (SCM), physician – driven medication reconciliation, physician electronic clinical documentation, plus many other new functionalities that have improved patient safety and patient outcomes.

DeKalb Medical would like to welcome the newly appointed CMIOs and Hospitalists Dr. Jonathan Perkins and Dr. Benjamin Lefkove. Drs. Perkins and Lefkove will join Dr. Stuart Pancer in providing medical oversight and guidance in areas concerning our electronic medical record (EMR) that affect physician practice, assuring a balanced IT work effort between medical and patient care features/functions.  Drs. Perkins and Lefkove have recently been instrumental in the development of the Inpatient and Emergency Department physician electronic clinical documentation.
