DeKalb Medical’s Comprehensive Breast Center has been
granted a three-year, full accreditation designation by the
National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a
program administered by the American College of Surgeons. A
breast center that achieves NAPBC accreditation demonstrates
a commitment to offer patients every significant advantage in
their battle against breast disease.
Although the majority of hospice care is provided in a patient’s residence, a growing number of hospitals – including DeKalb Medical – are now offering hospital inpatients the option of hospice care in the hospital. In
fact, according to the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization’s 2015 report on trends and statistics in the hospice industry, the number of hospice patients in acute care
hospitals at death increased from 7 percent in 2013 to 9.3 percent in 2014.
Hospice care has long been recognized for the compassionate
care provided to patients and their families. Hospice workers
focus on reducing pain and addressing physical, psychological,

The 2016 Atlanta magazine’s Top Doctors list includes 83 physicians who are members of the medical staff at DeKalb Medical. The list contains the names of physicians who are nominated by other physicians in the Atlanta area as doctors who not only excel in academic medicine and research, but also in patient care.
